West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Wednesday requested Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to withdraw her alleged remark declaring that the Trinamool Congress will observe July 21 as “a day of jihad towards the BJP”.

In a letter to Banerjee, Dhankhar claimed that such an “authoritarian and undemocratic” assertion will carry the “dying knell” of democracy and rule of regulation. The governor wrote the letter after a BJP delegation, led by Chief of Opposition Suvendu Adhikari, known as on him to hunt constitutional intervention for her assertion allegedly made at a programme in Asansol on Tuesday.

“You're urged to forthwith withdraw this most unconstitutional declaration of ‘jihad’ towards the BJP on 21 July, 2022,” Dhankhar wrote to the chief minister and shared a duplicate of the communication on his Twitter deal with.
