Two pilots had been killed on Thursday night when Air Pressure's MiG-21 jet crashed throughout a coaching sortie in Rajasthan's Barmer.

"A twin seater Mig-21 coach plane of the IAF was airborne for a coaching sortie from Utarlai air base in Rajasthan this night. Round 9:10 pm, the plane met with an accident close to Barmer. Each pilots sustained deadly accidents," the Air Pressure mentioned in an announcement.

"IAF deeply regrets the lack of lives and stands firmly with the bereaved households,"it additional mentioned.

A courtroom of inquiry has been ordered to analyze the reason for the accident, it mentioned.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh spoke to Air Chief Marshal VR Chaudhari following the crash.
