Berlinale winner Mohammad Rasoulof is alleged to have been arrested in Iran – tradition – [ad_1]

In response to a media report, the Iranian director and Berlinale winner Mohammad Rasoulof and a colleague have been arrested on fees of “inciting unrest”.

Rasoulof and Mostafa Aleahmad “created unrest and disrupted the psychological safety of society” after the devastating collapse of a high-rise constructing in Abadan that killed 43 folks in Might, the state information company IRNA reported on Friday night.

On Might 23, 43 folks died when a high-rise constructing underneath building in Abadan, southwest Iran, collapsed. The incident is without doubt one of the worst accidents in Iran in recent times and triggered violent protests towards the authorities, which had been violently suppressed.

Rasoulof’s name to ‘lay down arms’

On the initiative of Rasoulof, a gaggle of Iranian filmmakers printed an open letter concerning the incidents. In it, they referred to as on the safety forces to “lay down their arms” within the face of “corruption, theft, inefficiency and repression” in reference to the constructing collapse.

The 50-year-old Rasoulof gained the Golden Bear on the Berlinale in 2020 together with his movie “There isn't a evil”. Nonetheless, since he was not allowed to depart Iran, he was unable to simply accept the award in particular person.
