Former Union minister Margaret Alva is the Opposition's alternative for the submit of Vice President of India, veteran political chief Sharad Pawar introduced after an opposition assembly as we speak. The NDA has introduced Jagdeep Dhankhar -- the previous Governor of Bengal -- as its candidate for the submit.

Margaret Alva served because the seventeenth Governor of Goa, the twenty third Governor of Gujarat, the twentieth Governor of Rajasthan and the fourth Governor of Uttarakhand. Earlier, she served as a Cupboard Minister.

The Vice-Presidential polls shall be held on August 6 -- days after the Presidential election on July 18.

The Presidential race shall be between Jharkhand's former Governor Droupadi Murmu and the opposition candidate, former Union Minister Yashwant Sinha.
