The invoice was permitted by the Lok Sabha in April

Parliament on Monday handed a invoice which seeks to ban funding of weapons of mass destruction and likewise empower the Centre to freeze, seize or connect monetary belongings and financial assets of individuals engaged in such actions.

The Weapons of Mass Destruction and their Supply Techniques (Prohibition of Illegal Actions) Modification Invoice, 2022, piloted by Exterior Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, was handed with a voice vote whilst opposition events continued their protest on numerous points, together with towards arrest of Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Raut.

The invoice was permitted by the Lok Sabha in April. The Weapons of Mass Destruction and their Supply Techniques (Prohibition of Illegal Actions) Act, handed in 2005, solely banned manufacture of weapons of mass destruction.

The Invoice seeks to insert a brand new Part 12A within the present regulation which states that “no individual shall finance any exercise which is prohibited underneath this Act, or underneath the United Nations (Safety Council) Act, 1947 or another related Act in the intervening time in drive, or by an order issued underneath any such Act, in relation to weapons of mass destruction and their supply methods.”
