Weightlifting: Mirabai, Jeremy, Achinta to skip Asian C'ship; to attend S&C camp

Olympic silver medallist Mirabai Chanu and 7 different high Indian weightlifters will fly to the USA on Tuesday for a 3 and half week power and conditioning (S&C) coaching camp in St. Louis.
Chanu will probably be accompanied by 2022 Commonwealth Video games medallists Jeremy Lalrinnunga, Achinta Sheuli, Sanket Sargar, Bindyarani Devi, Gurdeep Singh and former 2018 CWG champion R V Rahul and Asian Championship gold medallist Jhilli Dalabehra to St. Louis, USA for a three-and-half-week-long camp.
"We will probably be in USA for 23-24 days. It's the off season so we may have a power program there,"Sharma advised PTI.
Sargar, who went beneath the knife for the elbow damage he suffered throughout his occasion on the CWG, will undergo rehab.
"All these lifters have small niggles like Gurdeep has some problem in his wrist. Sanket will undergo correct rehab. We would like that everybody is completely match for the World Championships," he added.
The lifters will work with Dr Aaron Horschig, a former weightlifter-turned-physical therapist and power and conditioning coach.
Chanu has been consulting Horschig since 2020. He has been instrumental in finding out her imbalance problem which affected her snatch method.
She had a month-long coaching stint with Horschig in March, forward of the CWG.
"Mira at present does not have any problem however since we're going there she will even do some power coaching," Sharma stated.
Senior lifters to skip Asian Championships

Senior weightlifters will miss this 12 months’s Asian Championships opting to deal with the World meet as an alternative, which is a qualifying occasion for the Paris Olympics.

The World Championship, scheduled to happen from December 5 to fifteen in Bagota, Colombia, is the primary qualifying occasion for the 2024 Paris Olympics.
The Indian weightlifting contingent returned with a haul of 10 medals together with three golds and as a many silvers earlier this month.
Though Sharma was pleased with the performances of his lifters on the CWG, the pinnacle coach rued the missed probabilities.
"It may have been higher. Ajay (Singh), who was gold contender, missed a medal. Sanket too missed out on the gold and Poonam as effectively."
