Shiv Sena (UBT) president Uddhav Thackeray's "taint" jibe at Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis drew condemnation from Union minister Nitin Gadkari. Mr Thackeray's  posters have been torn by staff of the BJYM (Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha).

The BJYM staff raised slogans in opposition to Mr Thackeray and tore up his posters close to the Nagpur airport.

An area BJP chief stated they are going to maintain demonstrations on Tuesday morning within the metropolis in opposition to the Shiv Sena (UBT) chief.

Mr Gadkari condemned the remarks by Mr Thackeray.

He stated Mr Thackeray can focus on the event works completed by the BJP "after we are in energy and after they (MVA) have been in energy".

"However levelling private allegations at such a low degree doesn't go well with the political tradition of Maharashtra," the Nagpur MP tweeted.

Addressing BJP staff in Nagpur, the house turf of Mr Fadnavis, Mr Thackeray had stated the BJP chief was a "taint" on Nagpur as he had aligned with the NCP regardless of asserting he would by no means accomplish that.
