The protest leaders condemned the Centre for its alleged lax perspective in coping with the security and safety of ladies

The Trinamool Congress girls’s wing Tuesday launched a 48-hour dharna within the metropolis in protest towards the discharge of 11 convicts within the Bilkis Bano gang rape case, calling it “shameful and unacceptable”. The protest leaders condemned the Centre for its alleged lax perspective in coping with the security and safety of ladies, together with the current rape of a girl by Border Safety Drive personnel at Bagda in West Bengal’s North 24 Parganas district.

“The legislation of the nation says that when remission is taken into account for any prisoner these punished for rape and trafficking are to not be thought-about. We can not perceive how the covicts within the Bilkis Bano case had been launched. It's shameful and unacceptable,” senior TMC chief and state Trade Minister Shashi Panja stated.

All of the 11 convicts sentenced to life imprisonment for the 2002 post-Godhra Bilkis Bano gang rape and homicide of seven members of her household walked out of Godhra sub-jail final month after the Gujarat authorities allowed their launch below its remission coverage. Slamming the BJP-led governments on the Centre and in Gujarat for not taking any motion to place the 11 males again in jail, Panja stated, “The ladies of the nation really feel unsafe and humiliated by their motion”. Referring to the Nationwide Crime Data Bureau knowledge, she stated New Delhi, whose legislation and order is below the jurisdiction of the union house ministry, is without doubt one of the most unsafe cities within the nation for ladies.

“You will need to observe that Delhi Police is below the Union Residence Ministry, which has not stated a phrase on the NCRB report,” she stated. Talking on the occasion, senior TMC chief and state minister Chandrima Bhattacharya lashed out on the Centre over the Bagda rape. “The BSF is meant to protect the nation’s borders, are committing heinous crimes. Will the union house minister search a report on the incident and punish the BSF personnel accused of raping the girl? Why is he silent on the problem?” she stated. Two BSF personnel had been arrested on the cost of raping a girl who was allegedly making an attempt to illegally cross over to Bangladesh from West Bengal in August.

The discharge of the convicted within the Bilkis Bano incident and rape of a girl by BSF personnel displays the “hypocrisy” of the BJP authorities on the Centre which speaks about “nari shakti and girls empowerment”, Bhattacharya stated.
